Cyanotype × Calligraphy
Fragments of blue woven together by light and letters
This highly artistic, hands-on event combines the ancient printing technique of cyanotype photography with Western calligraphy. Utilizing the soft spring light, participants will write down their current thoughts in beautiful characters on a blue-tinted print. We offer a luxurious experience where participants can create their own unique "record of light."

[WS①] Nikko Photography x Calligraphy
A special collaborative work in which calligraphy is written on a blue photograph created using sunlight. (150 minutes)
[WS②] Nikko Photography Shop
A short Shop (60 minutes) where you can learn traditional techniques and express the fantastic world of "blue".

Lecturer profile
Mai Narita (Photographer)
Born in Tokyo and raised in Yamagata Prefecture. Studied photography, developing, and printing at the Department of Information Design at Kyoto University of Art and Design, and went independent in 2010. In 2009, she won the Grand Prize and Jury Prize (selected by Rinko Kawauchi) at the littlemoreBCCKS Photo Book Open Competition, and a collection of her works was published. She has held solo and group exhibitions, mainly in the Kansai region. She is a mother of two and specializes in portraits.
Risa Kadono (calligrapher)
He lives Kyoto Prefecture and has been familiar with calligraphy since childhood through his university years, before entering the world of calligraphy in 2018. He is currently involved in a wide range of activities, including producing art for exhibitions and solo exhibitions at department stores and hotel galleries, teaching, writing for luxury brands both in Japan and overseas, and providing his work to companies.
