KG+ 2026 EXHIBITION SPECIAL PROGRAM
Book as Sculpture
Designing a photo book as a sculpture
This Shop is a practical program in which participants will reconstruct with their own hands the idea behind this exhibition, which treats photography (light) and waste materials (matter) equally.
Rather than simply viewing photographs as "records," participants will rethink them as "structures" that connect with the memories of the land and scrap wood, and design a photo book that transcends the subject of reading and becomes a "small archival sculpture." Students will learn a unique expressive technique in which pages are stacked like geological strata, visualizing the accumulation of time in cross sections. Experience the process of your own photographs blending with the material and being reborn as a new landscape.

Course details
① Structural design (10:00-12:00)
After a lecture on the exhibited works, participants will conceive of the aesthetics of the photograph's "cross section, spine, and margins" and create a prototype.
② Circulation structure (14:00-16:30)
The project will combine photographs with Japanese paper, scrap materials, and found objects to create free-standing sculptures.
*You can participate in just one session or all sessions.
