GOOD NATURE STATION 4F GALLERY will be hosting a "Two People Exhibition" by Tamiko Akanuma and Natsuka Akanuma.
This exhibition is a mother-daughter collaboration between Akanuma Tamiko, who has been engaged in a wide range of creative endeavors over the past 40 years, including photography, hand weaving, cloisonné and silverwork, and her daughter Natsuka, a currently garnering attention as a kintsugi jewelry artist.
Tamiko's works, which are a culmination of her energetic creative work spanning many years, will be on display across a wide range of genres, from photography to crafts. Her delicate technique and artistry will deeply move the hearts of viewers.
Meanwhile, Natsuka is a popular instructor at the Kintsugi jewelry-making classes that have been held regularly since spring 2023 at the Shop Table on the museum's 4th floor. She upcycles pottery fragments purchased from potteries all over the country into beautiful jewelry, creating an original world that combines traditional craft techniques with modern design sensibility.
*Message from artist Natsuko Akanuma on this exhibition
This "Two-person Exhibition" began with a comment from my 83-year-old mother: "I want to hold one last solo exhibition while I'm still healthy."
My mother's work, which reflects her constant curiosity and uncompromising beliefs no matter how old she is, is full of love and dreams.
My mother is healthy now, but I think she was thinking about the day when that would no longer be the case, and was considering the right timing for her to bring her life to an end.
If I were to have one last solo exhibition, I'd like to hold it at this wonderful GOOD NATURE STATION so that many people could see my mother's work!
With this in mind, we have decided to hold a "Two-person Exhibition."
There are many of my mother's works all over the house, so I told her, "You should display everything you've made," but she didn't want to compromise.
Most of the works have been steadily created over the past year specifically for this exhibition.
