The concept of GOOD NATURE STATION built by POOL inc.

GOOD NATURE STATION was opened on December 9 last year to introduce a new lifestyle from Kyoto. Interview with POOL inc. Who created the concept of the facility that is the cornerstone of this. Talked about concept creation and keywords First part

In the second part, we asked Toshiyuki Konishi and Satoshi Korenaga, creative directors, Satoshi Korenaga, art director Hideyuki Tanno, and copywriter Maiko Kobayashi about the GOOD NATURE STATION facility creation and design.

Create a system that allows you to travel around the facility

POOL inc., Who built the foundation of the direction of facilities, floor composition, staff action, etc. based on the concept of “GOOD NATURE”, a bio that can be enjoyed slowly while deciding with your own mind. Did you encounter any difficulties before the challenging GOOD NATURE STATION was completed?

Tanno: "Until the concept of“ GOOD NATURE ”reached the staff, the floor and the direction of the person in charge of Shop were different impressions. It was a bit hard to put it all together because everyone was moving around using the word bio as a guide. ''

Korenaga: "When the concept was decided, it was already a year before the opening of the business. The interior design was advanced, but overall it was a bit more" GOOD NATURE"... it's difficult to explain in words, but I feel a little better The challenge was to add a feeling to the design. The challenge was to give each floor a sense of unity. As an interesting attempt, the GOOD NATURE STATION had a floor designer for each floor. We had a hard time adjusting the scope to get a sense of unity while having them demonstrate. ''

The market and kitchen on the 1st floor, the gastronomy floor on the 2nd floor, and the beauty floor on the 3rd floor came into view as we arranged everything that was soft and ambiguous GOOD NATURE And the issue was how to get people to go around the hotel lounge floor on the 4th floor.

Kobayashi: "What we do and what we offer is completely different for each floor, and each designer is different. The fun is that there are many lifestyle axes in one facility. If we ask our customers to walk around the facility, they will be able to enjoy it even more. From there, "walking" became an issue. "

Korenaga: "If the designers are different for each floor, it is difficult to create a design-like migration line. Then, I switched to the idea that if you make a device on the software side, you can migrate."

Kobayashi: "Specifically, we will add an in-house experience such as a tour by a conductor resident on the hotel lounge floor on the 4th floor and a shopping bag placed at the hotel so that you can enjoy shopping at the market on the 1st floor. I went. "

The era when buying things starts

In order to enable the new keyword of excursion, we asked all designers to "design without breaking up." For example, on the first floor, the crowdedness of the market and kitchen of the market cafeteria → a modern eat-in space that everyone can use → the chic restaurant & bar “ERUTAN”, the buzz gradually settles down as you go from the entrance to the back.

Korenaga: "It was just the last minute, but it was great to be able to ask each of the designers the perspective of designing a gradient from the market to the innermost ERUTAN."

Kobayashi: "Because of the problem of migration, I was particular about not dividing the floor. I thought that by not dividing the floor vertically or horizontally, any experience in the hall could be valued."

Konishi says that the era of just selling things ended in Heisei about the fun and importance of experiencing.

Konishi: "I think things have to be a thing right now. Until the Heisei era, I thought the goal was to sell things, but in the age of Reiwa, buying things started. In other words, it's more important to talk about things after you buy them, how to buy things and take them into your life, what you enjoy with them, and what kind of life you like. The theme of the question is "GOOD NATURE STATION", which can be found only from experience, so you can't talk without experience. If you only buy things, you can go to EC. You have to feel like this. This is an experience, and for that you need a story. It's important how you tell the story through products, services and facilities. "

Tanno: "We have been working on commercial facilities, but when we take a survey of users, most large-scale retailers are listed as shops they want. It's not the same, but it creates the same scenery everywhere in the city, not only from the user's point of view, but also in the future we need to propose new things from here. In that sense, "GOOD NATURE" is not just the name of a facility, but an idea, and we hope that this idea will spread from here. "

Add the essence of Kyoto

Mr. Kobayashi says that he was aware of new things as he built the base of GOOD NATURE STATION.

Kobayashi: “What I learned so much was that Kyoto has a traditional and conservative aspect, but it is also an innovative city. It is a melting pot of values, incorporating various things from abroad, and chaotic history. With that in mind, the feeling of proposing a new organic style for GOOD NATURE STATION seemed very Kyoto like. That's what Kyoto is all about. "

Korenaga: “Speaking of coexistence with nature, which is related to“ GOOD NATURE ”in the first place, Kyoto is the place where the best wisdom is accumulated in Japan. OF NATURE with essence of Kyoto ”and tried to add the essence of Kyoto instead of expressing the Japanese atmosphere in a straightforward manner, and I think the results are reflected in the design. I will. "

How is POOL inc. Looking at GOOD NATURE STATION which opened based on various keywords and concepts?

Tanno: "I think that we can do various experiments as a facility. From the fourth floor up to the hotel, the first floor to the third floor can be arranged in various ways, providing various products and services, providing methods of experience, and materials for experience. It's a living facility, so it will be more interesting if you try more and more in the future. "

Konishi: "I just went two days ago (laughs). I was at the bar. I think it's wonderful that the floors with different atmospheres are stacked from the first floor to the fourth floor with a pleasant atmosphere. It was. "

Korenaga: "We will continue to support various tunings of the facility. For example, we regularly hold events in that wonderful space on the 4th floor to get people aware of its existence, I am going around "

The freedom to choose between things that are good for your mind and body, good or bad for yourself. And to keep the lifestyle with that mind comfortable. We hope that GOOD NATURE STATION can advance step by step as a source of ideas for accumulating such days.
