Come observe the little monsters, carnivorous plants, with the botanical garden staff!

There are said to be approximately 800 species of carnivorous plants in the world, with a wide variety of shapes, the ways they catch insects, and the types of insects they eat.
Approximately 300 varieties are cultivated in the Kyoto Prefectural Botanical Garden.
Every July, a "Carnivorous Plant Exhibition" is held, where in addition to well-known species such as Venus Flytraps and Pitcher Plants, many rare species that you don't normally get to see, such as Heliamphora and Genrisea, are also on display.
In this Shop, botanical garden staff will explain about carnivorous plants and guide you into their tiny and peculiar world.
Let's use the secret gadget "Microscope" to look at carnivorous plants as if we were insects!

■Lecturer: Shota Narikuri, Greenhouse Section, Technical Department, Kyoto Prefectural Botanical Gardens

Born in Gifu Prefecture, he was a boy who loved nature and would run around fields, mountains, and rivers, catching bugs and fish as a child.
Although he wasn't interested in plants at first, he studied the plants around his house as part of a summer vacation research project in his first year of junior high school, and began to like plants.
We care for thousands of varieties of plants at the botanical gardens every day so that we can convey the charm of plants to as many people as possible.
I hope to make this a fun Shop that will help participants deepen their understanding of plants through carnivorous plants.
