『LETTERS / the noise in my eyes』

LETTERSと題された本シリーズでは、キャンバスに写真をプリントし、その上に作家が自身の眼差しの原点と語る様々な小説や詩集、歌詞等からおよそ無作為に選び出された文字がオイルスティックによってライティングされている。それらはまた風景に向ける眼差しと本来その裏に在る原点が交錯し、静かなる混沌とでもいうような、新たなる追体験的原風景として立ち現れます。ストリートフォトグラファーとして様々な表現を行ってきた横山隆平の新たな作品シリーズの発表となります。ぜひご高覧ください。

「これまで出会ってきた文字どもはいつしか、イメージとなり、分かち難く渾然となって紡がれ、やがてノイズのような旋律となって僕の眼差しの内、静かに響き続けるのだった。 それらはまた、都市を巡る旅へと僕を連れだした、遠い彼方からの手紙のようなものだった──。」

“Before I knew it, the letters I had encountered thus far became images, woven together in an inseparable and harmonious way, and eventually became a noise-like melody that continued to echo quietly within my gaze. They were also like letters from far away, taking me on a journey around the city.

📷作家紹介：横山 隆平 / Ryuhei Yokoyama
写真家。1979年大阪府生まれ。「都市とは何か」をテーマとし、モノクロフィルムによるストリートスナップを中心に作品を展開。流動する都市の姿を、視点やアプローチを変えながら制作を行う。主な作品集に『風に転がる紙屑に書かれたような美しい、光と踊るネズミのグラフィティ史』（2018、BUFFALO PRESS）など。2020年から取り組む〈WALL〉シリーズでは、幾重にも出力を重ねる独自の手法で制作を開始。インクが層を成し、徐々に立体的な質感をつくりだすことで、視点の角度によって異なる表情が現れる「半立体」とも言える新しい写真表現を生みだしている。VOLTA NEWYORK 2022（アメリカ・ニューヨーク）、2019年『第8回大理国際写真祭』（中国・大理）、同年のグループ展『off the record vol.12 aube artistique』（フランス・パリ）など、国内外で作品を発表。

Ryuhei Yokoyama is a photographer born in 1979. With the theme “What is a city?,” his work focuses on street snapshots using black and white film, creating images of the city in flux using different perspectives and approaches. His recent works include the WALL series, which focuses on the existence of graffiti. Yokoyama’s works have been exhibited in both Japan and abroad, including “2019 Dali International Photography Exhibition” (2019, Dali, China) and “off the record vol.12 aube artistique” (2019, In )( between gallery, Paris). His major monographs include Graffiti History of Mice Dancing with Light, Beautiful as if Written on Paper Scraps Rolling in the Wind (2018, BUFFALO PRESS).
