【金継ぎ（きんつぎ）とは？】
壊れた陶磁器を修復する室町時代からの日本独自の技法で、割れたり欠けたりした器を漆（うるし）で繋ぎ、継ぎ目を金や銀などの粉を蒔いて装飾する伝統技術です。
ワークショップでは、ウルシの木から採れる漆は使用せずかぶれにくく乾く時間の早い合成うるし（塗料）と金粉（真鍮とパールの粉のブレンド）を使用して作るので、はじめての方も安心してご参加いただけます。

【What is Kintsugi?】
“Kintsugi” is a technique unique to Japan that has been used since the Muromachi period (1336-1573) to repair and decorate broken ceramics.
It involves using lacquer (urushi) to join and bond the cracked or chipped pieces of the pottery, and then applying powdered gold, silver, or other metals to decorate the mended seams.
In our workshop, we use synthetic lacquer (a paint that is less likely to cause allergies and dries faster) and a blend of gold powder (brass and pearl powder) instead of lacquer obtained from the urushi tree.
This allows even beginners to participate with confidence.

【ワークショップ内容】
伝統的な日本のやきものの陶片と色鮮やかな天然石を自由に組み合わせて作る金継ぎのSDGsアクセサリー作り体験です。

主に全国各地の窯元から買い取った、割れたり欠けたりしたもう使われない器やカップなどのやきものをこちらで一つ一つ手作業で陶片にして研磨したものをご用意します。
色柄形がそれぞれ異なる唯一無二のアクセサリーパーツとしてお好きなものを選んでいただき、カラフルな天然石と組み合わせて「世界にひとつだけの金継ぎジュエリー」をつくりましょう！

This workshop offers an experience of creating Kintsugi SDGs jewelry by freely combining traditional Japanese fragments of pottery with vibrant natural stones.

We prepare the fragments of pottery by handcrafting and polishing them from pottery craftsmen mainly from kilns all over Japan.
Fragmented pieces of cracked or chipped pottery become unique parts, each with their own colour, shape and pattern.
You can then combine it with colorful natural stones to create your own “one-of-a-kind Kintsugi jewelry.”

You can choose from a variety of accessories such as earrings, ear studs, brooches, rings, and pendant tops.
If men participate, please feel free to choose from tie pins, cufflinks, stick pins (lapel pins), and hat pins. We look forward to welcoming men to join as well!
The cost is the same, so please tell what you want to make to the instructor on the day of the workshop.

アクセサリーは「ピアス、イヤリング、ブローチ、指輪、ペンダントトップ、帯留め、ポニーフック、ヘアゴム、タイピン、タックピン、カフスリンクス」の中からお好きなものを選べます。
You can choose from a variety of accessories, including earrings, brooches, rings, pendants, sash slip, hair accessories, tie pins, lapel pins, and cufflinks.
料金は同じですので、当日講師に作りたいものをお伝えください。

9月のワークショップは「有田焼」と「信楽陶土」（大阪府で作陶している「コイケヨシコ」さん）のやきものをご用意します。
信楽から土を購入し作陶しているので「信楽陶土」といいますが、女性ならではの優しい洗練された色使いが素敵です。
For the September workshop, we will provide “Arita porcelain” as well as “Shigaraki pottery” provided by “Koike Yoshiko,” a pottery artist based in Osaka prefecture, for its gentle and sophisticated color palette, which adds a lovely touch unique to female artisans.

金継ぎジュエリー engrace(エングレース)主宰。
2012年よりハンドメイドを始め2019年に金継ぎを京都で習得し器を修復する技を応用し独学で金継ぎアクセサリー作りを始める。
日本の伝統を継承したやきものに着目し、窯元などから産業廃棄物となる「もう使われないやきもの」を買い取りアクセサリーとして生まれ変わらせる活動を行っている。
現在、唐津焼、織部焼、有田・伊万里焼、備前焼、京焼・清水焼をのやきものを取り扱いしており、取扱常設店が全国に15店舗、オンラインショップ４つ、自社サイトの運営、海外（主にオーストラリア）への輸出を行っており、時折ワークショップイベント、百貨店などの催事に出展している。

I am the founder of engrace, Kintsugi jewelry brand. I started crafting handmade items in 2012 and learned the art of Kintsugi in Kyoto in 2019.
I applied the techniques to my craft and began creating Kintsugi Jewelry through self-study.
Focusing on traditional Japanese ceramics, I engage in the activity of purchasing “no longer used ceramics” that become industrial waste from kilns and other sources, and transforming them into jewelry pieces, let them reborn as unique pieces of wearable art.
Currently, I handle various ceramics including Karatsu pottery, Oribe pottery, Arita-Imari pottery, Bizen pottery, and Kyoto pottery.
We have 15 stores handling our jewelry nationwide, four online shops, and operate our own website.
We also export to overseas markets, mainly Australia. Occasionally, we participate in workshop events and exhibitions at department stores and other venues.
